Literary Analysis
For my literary analysis I'm going to write about the similarities between I-330 and O-90. Some people might not think their are any similarities between the two of them. It seems like the only thing they have in common is the fact they can't stand each other. First off, the reason I chose I-330 and O-90 is because they are my two favorite characters in We. I-330 is the rebellious type who does what she wants when she wants and O-90 is the type of girl who will do whatever her man wants. Being a female it's easy to relate with these two characters. Somedays I can relate to O-90, wanting somebody who makes it clear they want to be with somebody else. Other days I relate better with I-330. I want to do what I want to do. So when it came time to choose something to write about I thought O-90 and I-330 would be a perfect choice. One way that I-330 and O-90 are similar is that they both use D-503 to get something they want. O-90 wants a baby and she uses D-503 to get pregnant. I-330 uses D-503 to get close to the Integral. She also uses pink slips saying she is with him so that she can go off without people knowing. They both want D-503 to themselves. I would also say they both are very strong and courageous women. O-90 was going to sacrifice herself for her child. She went off behind the wall to an uknown world to save herself and child. I-330 never cracked once even when they were torturing her in the Bell Jar. I hope to discover more similarities when I further analyze We.

The End of We
The end of We confused me slightly. I'm not completely sure what was happening on the Integral. I only know that things did not go as planned. Also, that U told on D-503 and I-330 thought it was him. I guess U was just getting her revenge. D-503 treated her awful and she saved his butt one time. One of my favorite parts is when O went to D-503 asking him to help her save herself and the baby. Even though O didn't want help from I-330, because she was mad that I-330 basically stole her man, O knew she wanted to have this child. I think this little story within the story was my favorite. Sometimes you felt like nobody in the book had a heart. Then you have O going against everything she ever knew to have a baby. Another part of the story that stuck out to me is when D-503 goes to see the Benefactor. After their talk he writes about how he wish he had his more like in the Ancient times. I think this is true for many of us. When EVERYTHING in our lives is going wrong sometimes the only person we want is our mommy. Also,I think he is trying to say that the old woman at the Ancient House is his mother. Either that or he's imagining his mother to be just like that.I was kind of frustrated by the end of the book. It was like one of those movies where when you come to the end you realize it was all just someone dreaming and it didn't actually happen. You read that whole book getting excited for the rebellion and the new world they are going to create and then D-503 is caught and has the Great Operation.

The Thing That Would Make Me Most Upset About Living In The One State
A lot of things would make me upset living in the One State. I would hate having to follow their schedule. I need my own time and I like to make my own decisions. Freedom to do what I want when I want is very important to me. I would find myself purposefully breaking the rules. The thing that would most upset me is not being able to raise my own children. I'm really excited to have children someday. It would break my heart not to be able to hold them in my arms. To carry a child for 9 months and have that child taken from you would be terrible especially if you have no say in it. That child is a part of you. I feel bad for O because all she wants is a baby. Something to love and that will love you back. It would be awful being a child in the One State because you wouldn't have parents. You wouldn't have somebody to turn to when you needed help. Somebody that was always there for you and encouraging you. At times I love being alone but usually I long to be around friends and family. It doesn't seem like anybody in the One State is all that close.

Applying Critical Strategies to We
We lets readers use their own insight to figure out the meaning of this book. Readers must use critical thinking in order to understand certain symbols in the book. It is not just a simple story but has many hidden meanings. The first step to uncovering the true meaning of We is to analyze the text. When I analyze the text, I find that Zamyatin might be poking fun at government systems that completely control their people. I interpret that from when D-503 makes fun of freedom. I also get that idea from the tight schedule that everybody has to keep. Every part of the people’s lives is controlled. They sacrifice their freedom for this so-called perfect world. When you analyze the names the characters are given you can see that they symbolize certain things. An example would be I-330. D-503 is afraid of imagination and dreams. I could be like the i in math with is an imaginary number. So I-330 scares him slightly because she makes him have an imagination. I've also noticed that all the girls have vowel letters and all the boys have consonant letters. I have not yet figured out if that has some meaning. I will have to use critical thinking to figure it out.

Definitions From The Book!
Style: The style used in this book could be described like mathematical equations. D-503 talks like he is a robot and not like a human. It's like reading a report. An example from the book-" I am merely copying, word for word, what was printed in the State Gazette today."
Diction: The diction in the story We is much like the style. Since the author is trying to make the characters seem robotic, it is appropriate for the narrator to talk mathematically. He talks in a very educated matter with proper grammar. It would be odd for D-503 to start using wrong grammar.Example from the book-"...and yet one is a benefactor and the other, a criminal, one is a + sign and the other is a - sign.
Tone: In We D-503 shows respect for authority he is glad that every part of his day is controlled. He is attracted to O-90 and is intrigued by I-330. He feel like O-90 and R-13 are his family. An example from the book- "I, he, and O- we are a triangle..."
Irony: Something ironic in the book is that D-503 tries to follow the rules and everything but the more he is with I-330 the more he breaks the rules. Another ironic point is that D-503 thinks the One State is perfect but you can slightly tell that there are some imperfections.
Plot: D-503 lives in the future. There is no freedom. Everything is going well and then he meets I-330. She starts to turn his lif upside down.
Characterization:O-90 is slightly dim witted in my opinion she just goes along with whatever D-503 says. I-330 is a rebel. She wants to break the rules. An example from the book is when I-330 drinks and smokes.D-503 follows the rules and believes the One State is perfect.
Setting: We takes place in the future. It takes place in the One State where nobody goes passed the Green Wall. The characters in a world where every part of their life is controlled.
Point of View: The story is told in the point of view of D-503. He tells it like a report. Everything that happens he records for Integral.
Symbol: Some symbols in the book would be like how the One State represents Russia. The people in We represent robots.
Theme:The theme of the story is to poke fun at Russian leaders. It kind of shows how ridiculous the totalitarianism ideas were. An example in the book was that everybody's whole day was planned for them and they couldn't control anything for themselves.

Mini -Autobiography of Chandra Schultz
My name is Chandra Joy Schultz. I was born in Yankton, South Dakota on February 11,1992. I was raised on a farm outside the very small town of Menno, South Dakota. I joined two older sisters. Their names are Chelsea and Carissa. I attended Menno Public School and took part in many activities. I was involved in the following: cheerleading, softball, volleyball, one act play, student council, NHS, yearbook, TATU, and quiz bowl. My favorite activity in high school was cheerleading. I had a class of 16 or so and my classmates were like my brothers and sisters. I graduated high school in 2010 and I am currently a freshman at USD. I am a double majoring in elementary and special education. I'm really excited to teach someday. My best friend is also majoring in the same field so it's really cool. My family and friends are a big part of my life. They are always there for me and I don't know what I would do without them. In my free time I enjoying napping, shopping, hanging with friends, and camping. In the future, I hope to get a job teaching in a small town. I love small towns and will probably always live in one. I also hope to get married and have a large family. I'm a very laid back girl and I like to have fun. No matter where I end up I will always be the farmer's daughter. I'm very into peace and love! I'm a big fan of Marilyn Monroe and I love this quote from her,"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it is better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
