Dr.Faustus/ Changes Since the Renaissance
There has been many changes since the Renaissance that has determined the way people set up their hierarchy. Technoloy, medicine, and law have come so far since that time. Medicine and doctors probably weren't all that important to them because they were that effective. If you were really sick or had a bad injury back then you were probably going to die. I mean they thought that bloodletting would help people. Now doctors and medicine are making advances everyday at curing illnesses. It seems like people go to the doctor for everything. Texchonology has come to dominate society I believe. Many people can't live without their computers, cars, and cell phones. People during the Renaissance didn't have any of these things.People now look to these things like gods. They worship their BlackBerry and all the apps they can get. People during the Renaissance relied on God to provide them what they need. Now, people are inventing things that will provide them with all their needs. If people during the Renaissance needed rain for their crops they would pray to God for rain. Now a lot of farmers have irrigation. I think scholarship was more important during the Renaissance. I think more people have an education now but I don't think as many people value it the same way they did back then. I set my hierarchy as 1. religion 2. medicine 3. technology 4. scholarship 5. law- with 1 being the most important. Religion is what I base everything off of, it's how I base my moral code. Medicine is very important I believe. What good is an education and technology if I'm too sick to use it. Technology is very important because it helps me keep in contact with my friends and family, who are very important to me. Scholarship is important because you need an education to go anywhere in life. Law is last on my list. I think law is important but I think the other things on my list affect law.
